The future for juices is becoming bleak according to most local sources. Firstly, due to its recent poor performances, there is a growing risk of delisting.
As in other soft drinks and packaged food, juice manufacturers are not spared by the annual bargaining/trading about unit prices with retailers and particularly the increasing intervention of the French Government, which wants to limit the effects of inflation. Other threats include increasingly strict controls due to the country’s EGALIM legislation, and competition from flavoured bottled water and RTD tea, particularly during warmer periods, but mainly due to the ongoing concerns around the sugar content of juice.
New flavours are and will be the main trend in differentiating between simple juices and duo juices. Multi-flavours are less trendy.
