With consumers gradually spending more time outdoors and travelling over the forecast period, as well as sun hours and indices being expected to remain high and potentially growing, value and volume sales of sun care - and sun protection in particular - will continue to record decent growth. Even aftersun products are likely to pick back up as more consumers learn about their specific benefits to skin and its wellbeing.
As naturalness and sustainability will continue to rise in importance in sun care (albeit at a slower rate than in other categories, as protection level will always take precedence over other factors), transparency about ingredients and their effects will become even more important over the forecast period. At the same time, self-tanning will continue to decline in demand as these products will continue to be perceived as not natural, and potentially harmful for skin and the environment.
Similar to skin care, mass sun care products will mainly continue to be sold through supermarkets and other modern grocery stores such as discounters and hypermarkets, as well as health and personal care stores, for reasons of convenience and availability. Premium brands will mostly be found in and sold through department stores and pharmacies, with the latter focussing on dermocosmetics brands and products, as well as highly effective products with high SPFs and little to no added ingredients or scents.
