The positive correction following the COVID-19 crisis is expected to lead to continued growth in the early part of the forecast period as vending consumption returns to normal levels. Vending is expected to finally exceed pre-pandemic sales levels in current value terms in the final year of the forecast period.
As the health and wellness trend has continued to develop in Denmark and consumers have increasingly picked healthier snacks and on-the-go meals, vending operators have been slow to respond to the change in consumer demand. While convenience stores in Denmark offer a wide variety of healthy products, vending players have been slow to follow the demand and most vending machines, except for those in gyms, continue to stock traditional vending products such as soft drinks, chocolate, cheap sandwiches and crisps.
The spread of convenience stores, as well as convenience focused sections in other grocery stores, is likely to continue to put pressure on vending in Denmark over the forecast period. Because of this, it is unlikely that the total number of vending machines will see any significant increase over the forecast period.
