Vending in Bulgaria has significant growth potential thanks to increasing digitalisation, which makes the use of these machines much more convenient, particularly in terms of payment options. Moreover, operators will continue to widen the functional scope of vending machines and move beyond food, drinks and tobacco.
Not only is vending a convenient option for the consumer, it is much cheaper for a retailer to have a vending machine where people can buy a beverage or a snack instead of a physical store with employees serving people. As a result of this, and in response to the need for retailers to minimise costs, more vending machines are likely to be seen in various public spaces such as hospitals, state agencies, schools, offices and private businesses over the forecast period.
A continuing threat to vending will be security. Frequent thefts of and from vending machines will continue to pose a real threat to the channel’s growth and development.
