CHICAGO, US – Global market research firm Euromonitor International has been announced by World Economic Forum (WEF) as an official data partner for its Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024.

The TTDI benchmarks and measures a set of factors and policies that power successful, resilient and sustainable development in the travel and tourism sector. The Index highlights which countries are spearheading investment in travel and tourism putting the sector at the heart of their economic development.

The WEF carried out an in-depth analysis of the travel and tourism sector to publish the TTDI using Euromonitor International’s Passport data for social protection spending as a percentage of GDP, ground transportation infrastructure, labour productivity, and traveller length of stay.

Travel and Tourism makes important contributions to global GDP and employment, particularly in emerging markets, contributing to economic opportunities by employing women, youths, migrants and informal workers.

Travel and Tourism is also a major driver of global connectivity at a time when geopolitical conflict is on the rise and globalization is slowing. WEF forecasts the sector’s role in mitigating socioeconomic risks will only climb and says it has a big part to play in sustainability with destinations’ dependence on nature-based attractions generating an economic value to protecting the natural world.

Stefan Medina, Euromonitor’s Global Director for International Development, said: “Building off our commitment to CSR, it is Euromonitor International’s vison to generate the essential data and analysis that will help responsibly shape our future world.

“We are proud to partner with and contribute data to the TTDI supporting the WEF’s efforts to promote global connectivity, sustainability and enhance economic development through travel and tourism.”
